He was the first literate Christian head of the ancient Owu Kingdom. One of his predecessors, Oba Akindele Annigbua did not die a natural death, but after reigning for so many year's at ile Owu, he vacated his throne and went to found a large town known in Iwo district in those days as "Owu Annigbua" where the Oba sank mysteriously into the ground and came out no more.
