Joseph Philippe Lemercier Laroche (May 26, 1886—April 15, 1912) was the only black man on the Titanic.
As the ship foundered, he put his pregnant wife and their two daughters on Lifeboat 8. While they survived, he did not. He went down with the ship and his body was never recovered. He was only 25.
