Daily Times, Thursday September 9, 1971.
Ishola Oyenusi popularly known as Dr. Ishola was a Nigerian armed robber who was active during the 1970s.His modus operandi was carjacking, bank robberies and heists committed during hold-ups. Oyenusi together with six other members of his gang were executed on 8 September 1971 by a combined police and armed forces firing brigade. His execution was caught on film.

He wasn’t a medical doctor even though he always commanded to be addressed as one because of his special skills of extracting bullets lodged in his wounded gang mate bodies. Dreaded and powerful, Oyenusi was known for his ruthlessness and metaphysical powers.

He was arrested by Mr Sunday Adewusi, who later became the IG of the Nigerian police during the Shagari era. Apparently Oyenusi's first words to him on being arrested were: "you are lucky I do not have my Luger with me today". (The Luger is a semi automatic 9mm pistol)

Even when he was about to be executed at the Lagos Bar Beach (which later became a popular execution spot of armed robbers and coup plotters in the 60’s and 70’s ) Oyenusi was defiant and unremorseful until his death. He died with a mocking smile on his face.
